Thomas Tull ’92, founder and CEO of Legendary Entertainment and a member of Hamilton’s Board of Trustees, was part of a group of foundation and business leaders invited by President Barack Obama to discuss his “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative at the White House on Feb. 27.

Thomas Tull ’92, chairman and CEO of Legendary Pictures, will deliver the Commencement address at Hamilton on Sunday, May 26, at 10:30 a.m., in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House.

In a unique approach to soliciting college gifts, Hamilton’s Associate Director of Annual Giving Paul Ryan ’02 will host a 24-hour fund-raising radio broadcast marathon beginning at midnight on Friday, March 1.  The Power of Many will be broadcast on Hamilton FM station WHCL 88.7, as Ryan interviews alumni around the country with the goal of generating a minimum of 500 gifts for the college.

In in the wake of an exam boycott recently at Johns Hopkins University, InsideHigherEd reported on a different boycott 25 years earlier on Hamilton's campus.  "Game of Theories," the story of Eugene M. Tobin Distinguished Professor of Sociology Dan Chambliss’ challenge to students in his introductory sociology courses and how first-year student John Werner '92 successfully  met it, was retold on Feb. 22.

The Newman Council hosted its annual Trust Treat on Halloween for children from Thea Bowman House in Utica. Trust Treat is a Halloween celebration that brings youth from the Utica area, as well as the children of Hamilton employees, to the campus for a safe and fun evening of trick-or treating.  Students in residence halls, academic departments and campus organizations dress in costume, decorate their spaces and hand out candy to the visitors.

On March 21, students in the Program in Washington traveled to Alexandria, Va., to meet with Alicia Davis Downs ’97 and Michael Dubke ’92 to discuss technology, media and the 2012 election.

For the eighth year, students from Boston’s Citizen Schools are visiting Hamilton as members of 8th Grade Academy. Citizen Schools is a growing national network of after-school education programs for middle school students.

On Sunday, Oct. 2 at 6:45 p.m., Brian Chiappinelli '92 and Sean Epps '91 presented "Introduction to Private Equity – Middle Market Buyouts." Peter Tonetti, Hamilton's chief investment officer, working on the endowment, also participated.  The presentation was the seventh installment in the alumni-led "Investment & Finance Education Series," which was founded by Chiappinelli and John Merill '92, who wanted to make current Hamilton students aware of the breadth of career opportunities available to them in the field of finance.

Vanity Fair has included Eric Kuhn '09 and Thomas Tull '92 in the annual Next Establishment list, which recognizes rising talent in the technology, media, policy, and business sectors. 

John Werner '92 is an active member of the team of individuals striving to make a difference with the nonprofit organization known as TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design). TED is devoted to spreading innovative ideas in hopes of changing the attitudes and lives of citizens around the world.
