Doran Larson, the Edward North Chair of Greek and Greek Literature and Professor of Literature and Creative Writing, presented a paper during the inaugural Rise Up: A Conference to Liberate Higher Education During and After Prison Conference.

Hamilton welcomed 51 new faculty members including eight new tenure-track in addition to visiting professors, lecturers, and teaching fellows for the 2021-22 academic year. The College is in the midst of a 10-year period, begun in 2015, during which nearly half of its faculty will reach average retirement age.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Literature and Creative Writing Hoa Ngo is the recipient of a 2021 Artist Fellowship in Fiction awarded by the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA).

Professor of Comparative Literature and Creative Writing Emerita Nancy Sorkin Rabinowitz, recently took part in “The Gentlest Work,” a new digital performance installation from By Jove Theater Company. The piece was released virtually on June 7 and is available until June 20.

Doran Larson, the Walcott-Bartlett Chair of Ethics and Christian Evidences and Professor of Literature and Creative Writing, recently presented papers at two virtual conferences.

President David Wippman recently announced the appointment of four Hamilton faculty members to endowed chairs. All will be effective July 1, 2021. Tina Hall was appointed the Christian A. Johnson Professor of Teaching Excellence; Lydia Hamessley was awarded the Eugene R. Tobin Distinguished Professorship; Doran Larson was named the Edward North Chair of Greek and Greek Literature; and Quincy Newell was appointed the Walcott-Bartlett Chair of Ethics and Christian Evidences.

From anarchist periodicals of the 1920s to a 16th century copy of Aesop’s Fables to paintings of 19th century everyday life in China, Hamilton’s Special Collections is a trove of fascinating publications and ephemera. More importantly it is a repository of primary source material for students and faculty to conduct research.

Professor of Literature and Creative Writing Naomi Guttman published an essay in Stone Canoe (#15, 2021) and two poems in the anthology The New Spice Box: Contemporary Jewish Writing.
