  • For the second consecutive year Hamilton’s Mathletics Team has won the Snow Bowl competition, edging out teams from Colgate University, Skidmore College and St. Lawrence University. Each team’s top five scores on the William Lowell Putnam Exam, given in December, were added together to determine the winner.

  • The Hamilton Mathletics Team sat for the William Lowell Putnam exam on Saturday, Dec. 5.  Coached by Associate Professor of Mathematics Andrew Dykstra, the team had trained for the exam throughout the fall semester and consisted of a record-high number of 20 students. The Putnam exam is the most famous undergraduate mathematics competition in the country.  The exam is so challenging that most years the national median score is zero out of 120 possible points

  • Six Hamilton faculty members were approved for tenure by the College’s Board of Trustees during a recent meeting. The board granted tenure to Emily Conover, economics, Andrew Dykstra, mathematics, John Eldevik, history, Nathan Goodale, anthropology, Adam Van Wynsberghe, chemistry, and Zhuoyi Wang, East Asian languages and literatures. The tenures are effective July 1. With the granting of tenure comes the title of associate professor.
