  • While incoming first-year students may have to wait until August for Orientation, the excitement has already begun for some of Hamilton’s current students. Every year, new and returning leaders for each of Hamilton’s three orientation programs stay on campus for May training. Largely student driven, past leaders mentor the next generation of student leaders during the week after final exams. • Thirty-two members of the class of ’19 as well as nine transfer students arrived on the Hill on Jan. 15 to register, move in and take part in Hamilton orientation.  The College offers January admission to about 35-45 students per year to fill vacancies created by students on leave and studying abroad.

  • Under the leadership of Visiting Assistant Professor of English and Creative Writing Andrew Rippeon, first-year students in the Letterpress Printing and Book Arts Experience Adventure orientation group created a new honor code document that – from both tactile and visual perspectives – conveys the seriousness of its message. In a shift in tradition, the documents were distributed during convocation. After first-year students signed their copies, orientation leaders collected them and Honor Court Chair Taylor Elicegui ’17 presented them with Conor O’Shea ’18, a member of the court, to President Stewart.

  • Hamilton's new student Orientation is taking a new track this year as all 475 members of the Class of 2019 participate in “Adventure Trips.” Previously, incoming students had the option of participating in a pre-orientation Adirondack Adventure or Outreach Adventure trip. Last year a new option, Exploration Adventure, was added.
