  • Ten Hamilton students interested in the art market visited Christie’s fine arts auction house in New York City on March 28. A massive, vibrant Sol LeWitt mural greeted attendees at Christie’s headquarters in Rockefeller Plaza and foreshadowed an exciting day. Mary Evans, director of Hamilton’s Career Center, remarked, “This is a great opportunity for students to learn about the art auction business in an internationally pre-eminent setting.”

  • Fiction writer and essayist Roxane Gay will read from her work on Friday, April 4, at 6 p.m., in the Red Pit (room 127), KJ. The event is sponsored by the English and Creative Writing department, and is free and open to the public.

  • Benjamin Smith, director of the Quantitative & Symbolic Reasoning Center (QSR),  presented a pre-conference workshop titled "Technological resources for the modern learning center: Online, offline, and on the go" at the annual meeting of the Association for the Tutoring Profession held March 23-26 in Nashville, Tenn.

  • A reception honoring Pranlal Patel’s son and grandson, who have traveled from India to view the Wellin Museum of Art exhibition “Refocusing the Lens: Pranlal K. Patel's photographs of women at Work in Ahmedabad,” will take place on Wednesday, April 2, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., in the Wellin Museum. The public is invited to attend.

  • Huy Ho ’15 and Mandy Lin (Wong) ’15 have been awarded Gilman International Scholarship Program awards for undergraduate study abroad. Ho plans to study in Vietnam through the School for International Training (SIT) and Lin will study in Denmark through the Danish Institute of Study Abroad, Copenhagen.

  • The Hamilton College Choir will present the home concert of its annual spring break tour on Friday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.

  • Some people know, from the first time they see their name in print, that they want to write. Others learn over time that they excel in editing. And still others don’t realize until their senior spring that they possess the interpersonal and persuasive skills that make successful publicists. On March 29, Hamilton students and alumni convened at the Brooklyn Public Library to discuss the publishing industry and the myriad roles one might play within it. The event, called CareerExplo: Publishing, was sponsored by the Maurice Horowitch Career Center.
