  • The annual Hamilton Pitch Competition, which is open to Hamilton students and graduates of the last decade, is an involved process from September through April. Eight start-ups participated this year, attending conferences on the ins and outs of entrepreneurship hosted by a variety of alumni.

  • What constitutes learning? When does learning happen? Journalist Heather Won Tesoriero ’96 spent a year inside science teacher Andy Bramante’s classroom at Greenwhich High School in Connecticut, examining these overarching questions — and the dynamic, individual lives of teenagers.

  • Some do, some don’t. But according to Aaron Sanandres ’96, “There are very few topics in men’s fashion that are universally [pausing to capture the right word] emotional. And this is one of them.” He’s talking about the range of emotions sparked when discussing whether to tuck or not to tuck your shirt. 

  • Benjamin ‘Ben’ A. Berkman '96 co-founded FreeSolo Entertainment, a boutique music recording, publishing and artist management company.

  • Independently, using Kickstarter as a way to raise funds, Kingston has been working hard to pursue his passion of writing wrestling comics. Kingston was successful in the production of not one, but two books in his wrestling comic series titled, Headlocked, about a young former college theater major following his dream of becoming a professional wrestler.

  • The Career Center’s 4th round of HamiltonExplore provided 120 underclassmen the opportunity to explore career interests during winter break.  The shadowing program is designed to assist sophomore students with career exploration and decision making by offering the opportunity to “shadow” (observe) a Hamilton alumnus/a or parent in the workplace for a day or part of a day.

  • On Oct. 27, Alexander Hare ’14 and Isabelle “Izzy” Weisman ’15 sailed to Antarctica to continue ongoing research initiated by Eugene Domack, the J.W. Johnson Family Professor of Geosciences and director of Larsen Ice Shelf System – Antarctica (LARISSA), a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded and Hamilton College supported initiative. Domack’s former student, Amelia Shevenell ’96, is serving as chief scientist on this cruise.

  • Hamilton students are now pursuing their studies on all seven continents. On Oct. 10, Chief Scientist Eugene Domack, the J. W. Johnson Family Professorship of Environmental Studies, began an 18-day cruise to Antarctica along with two Hamilton students and two alumni. Students are writing blog updates about their trip each day.
