Hamilton President Steven Tepper announced the promotion of three faculty members to the rank of professor, as approved by the College’s Board of Trustees at its June meeting. They include Abhishek Amar (Asian Studies), Tara McKee (Psychology), and Katheryn Doran (Philosophy), who will retire later this month as professor of philosophy emeritus.

Associate Professor of Psychology Tara McKee presented a poster at the annual conference of the Association for Psychological Science in Boston on May 26. The poster was co-authored with Kyndal Burdin ’18 and Isabel O’Malley ’18.

Associate Professor of Psychology Tara McKee presented a poster on May 30 at the 5th World Congress on ADHD in Glasgow, Scotland. The poster, titled “Social-Emotional Correlates of ADHD Symptomatology in College Students,” presented the results of research conducted last summer with the help of Joshua DeVinney ’15 and Courtney Hobgood ’15

Associate Professor of Psychology Tara McKee recently published an article titled “Peer Relationships in Undergraduates With ADHD Symptomatology: Selection and Quality of Friendships.” It appears online in the Journal of Attention Disorders.

Courtney Hobgood ’15 and Josh DeVinney ’15 are spending the summer researching ADHD symptomatology (the set of characteristics associated with ADHD) under the direction of Associate Professor of Psychology Tara McKee. Their research focuses on college students, using data collected by Professor McKee and Hamilton College.

Eight Hamilton College faculty members were approved for tenure by the College's Board of Trustees during their recent meeting. The Board granted tenure to Heather Buchman (music), Jennifer Irons (sociology), Masaaki Kamiya (East Asian languages and literatures), Katherine Kuharic (art), Mike McCormick (biology), Tara McKee (psychology), Kyoko Omori (East Asian languages and literatures) and Sharon Werning Rivera (government).

An article by Assistant Professor of Psychology Tara McKee was published in the May issue of the Journal of Attention Disorders which was a special issue focused on ADHD in adults. The paper was titled "Comparison of a Norm-Based Versus Criterion-Based Approach to Measuring ADHD Symptomatology in College Students." McKee studied self-reported ADHD symptomatology in college students using the College ADHD Response Evaluation.

Deanne Katz '08 started working with autistic children in high school and hasn't really stopped. This summer the rising senior has an Emerson grant to build a project around special needs services for autistic children in Massachusetts schools. Collaborating with Assistant Professor of Psychology Tara McKee, Katz is spending her summer researching the services provided to autistic children in Massachusetts public schools and how the district parents feel about these services.
