Forty-two new faculty members are joining Hamilton’s ranks, including 11 tenure-track professors in anthropology, computer science, economics, environmental studies, geosciences, physics, and sociology, in addition to visiting professors, lecturers, and teaching fellows.

I am excited to welcome a new, talented cohort of teacher-scholars to our campus,” Dean of Faculty Ngonidzashe Munemo said. “Each new faculty member will add to the renewal -- of what we teach and how we teach our students, to the conversations across hallways and walkways -- that is essential for a vibrant liberal arts college. I look forward to the myriad ways that our new colleagues will invigorate our campus.”

Among this year’s newcomers are those with expertise in:

  • How people use languages and visual cues to creatively present themselves and others in various settings
  • Race and racism
  • The impact that diplomatic relations have on trade outcomes among developing countries
  • How human development and land use affect microbial communities and ecosystem functioning in lakes and rivers
  • The causes and consequences of modern biodiversity loss
  • Pandemics and public policy
