Global Seal of Biliteracy
The credential is available at three levels (Functional Fluency, Working Fluency, and Professional Fluency), benchmarked to the proficiency scales of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Why Get It?
The Global Seal gives you a verified way to show your language skills beyond a course title or a line on your résumé. Its serial-numbered credential can be shared on a CV, LinkedIn profile, or application for a job, internship, or graduate program.
Language skills will be important no matter your chosen path in life. Awardees of the Global Seal of Biliteracy use the seal's uniform standard to show that they will be a valuable asset in today's global economy. In particular, employers looking to hire proficient speakers or educators looking to place students appropriately have used the certificate to quickly and properly make correct decisions.
How to get it:
Proficiency is generally demonstrated by completion of one of many accepted qualified proficiency tests. The Language Center offers access to Avant STAMP 4S, which assesses reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Hamilton students who are not majoring in the language they wish to test can request access to the testing portal below. A Language Center staff member will then contact them with next steps and coordinate their testing.
