Grief Support Groups
Student Gatherings
Are you a student who is experiencing grief? Know that you are not alone. This is an informal, student-led space. You can choose to share as much, or as little, about what you’re going through as you feel comfortable. Please join us and others who are experiencing grief for dinner and learn how you can receive support from a community of your peers.
Co-sponsored by: Dean of Students, Student Support Care Team, Counseling Center, Community Health Promotion, Spiritual & Religious Life
Here’s what to expect if you attend a Grief Support Student Gathering event:
- RSVPs are encouraged, but not required
- Dinner will be provided (we always have more than enough!)
- The conversation will be student-facilitated
- At least one professional staff member will be present (usually is Dean Colleen)
- We're always a small group, conversation is informal, and you can feel free to share as much or as little as you like.

Grief Support Practice Sessions
Are you working through grief, but don’t know exactly what kind of support you want or need? Maybe you want to be with others who understand, but don’t want to have to talk about what you’re going through directly. This series might be for you. Join us for embodied practices that may help you process all that you’re going through, in ways other than talking. Regardless of what you’re going through, we hope these micro-practices might help. Any member of the campus community is welcome to attend.
Here’s what to expect if you attend a practice session:
- RSVPs are encouraged, but not required
- Each session will be just one hour long.
- Show up, learn a practice, and then do that practice.
- There will be a short debrief of the practice, but you won’t need to disclose any specifics of what you’re going through.
- This space is meant to be short and accessible.
