Terry Martinez leads the staff of the Division of Student Life with a focus on student leadership and engagement, intellectual and personal growth, a safe living and learning environment, and community building activities.
Dean of Students
Jeff Landry is responsible for determining the appropriate mechanism for dealing with alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct, serves as judicial coordinator, and chairs the Students of Concern committee (SOC) and Hamilton Emergency Response Team (HERT). Jeff provides oversight and direction for the department of and Campus Safety, Counseling and Psychological Services and Student Health Services.
Ashley Place serves as the College’s Interim Title IX Coordinator and coordinates the activities of the Harassment and Sexual Misconduct Board.
Allen Harrison advises international students, manages the peer mentoring programming for first-generation and multicultural students, and oversees accessibility services. For the latter, he works closely with students and their faculty members to coordinate accommodations for students with disabilities. Allen also chairs the Bias Incident Response Team (BIRT).
Professor of Government Steve Orvis coordinates the academic advising program and serves as a resource for faculty advisors. He chairs the Committee on Academic Standing (CAS), assists students to prepare petitions to the CAS, and administers its decisions. Steve works with faculty and other associate deans to help students resolve a variety of academic issues, and consults with the chair of the Honor Court on cases.
Lorna Boyer Chase provides leadership and oversight for a campus-wide student case management program that addresses the needs of students who are experiencing significant difficulties related to mental health, physical health, and/or psycho-social adjustment. Lorna will provide direct case management services including interventions, referrals, and follow-up services. She will work in close collaboration with faculty, faculty advisors, health care providers, Student Affairs colleagues and parents and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Cori Smith ’17 is the Title IX Prevention and Education Coordinator. She is responsible for developing and implementing Hamilton’s sexual assault prevention and education curriculum. The curriculum includes a wide range of programming focused on affirmative consent, sexual health, sex positivity, bystander intervention, and the role of alcohol/drugs in relation to sexual assault. She is also responsible for coordinating student, faculty and staff engagement in our ongoing prevention and education programs.
Regina Johnson provides a broad range of administrative support to the Associate Dean for Health and Safety and the Associate Dean for Multicultural Affairs and Accessibility Services. In addition, she coordinates judicial meetings/hearings and assists international students with immigration documents.
Karen Prentice-Duprey provides a broad range of secretarial and administrative support for the Associate Dean of Students for Academics (including duties for the Committee on Academic Standing and the Honor Court) and serves as a liaison for the Office of Off-Campus Study.
