  • Visiting the latest exhibit at the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art is akin to stepping into a strange and unfamiliar world. The installment, titled “You Can Fall: The War of the Mourning Arrows” (An Introduction to the Americas and a Requiem for Willem Ferdinand), features the work of Los Angeles-based artist Frohawk Two Feathers. On Sept. 28, Two Feathers presented a gallery walkthrough of his exhibit, which was curated by Mary Birmingham, curator of the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey.

  • Hamilton’s annual Fallcoming will take place on campus Oct. 26 through 29. Among highlights of the weekend will be the dedication of  the Jazz Archive, a Wellin Museum artist's talk and numerous athletic contests. The full schedule is here.

  • “The art world” is an abstract concept, consisting of careers in everything from law to painting to history. To an undergraduate, the concept of entering this fickle, fast-paced arena may be overwhelming or intimidating. During Fallcoming Weekend, Associate Professor of Art History Deborah Pokinski led an alumni panel discussion on “Careers in Art,” attracting dozens of students seeking advice. The discussion was held in the newly opened Wellin Museum of Art.

  • Chilly and sometimes dreary weather couldn't put a damper on Fallcoming 2012,  as Hamilton celebrated the opening the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art, honored Dan Dietrich II '64 as Volunteer of the Year, and recognized students' scholarships at the Helen and Doane Comstock '27 Memorial Luncheon.

  • Progress continues on construction of the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art, with its dedication ceremony scheduled for Friday, Oct. 5, 5:30 p.m., during Fallcoming Weekend.

  • Mother Nature cooperated and provided a glorious backdrop to a full weekend of Fallcoming events on the Hill. Highlights included the dedication of the Sadove Student Center at Emerson Hall, recognition of the Alumni All Stars Jazz Band as volunteers of the year, lectures, and musical performances.

  • Louis Menand, the Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor of English and American Literature at Harvard University, gave a lecture titled “What Every College Graduate Needs to Know” as part of Hamilton’s Fallcoming Weekend on Oct. 8 in the Chapel.
