  • While most students traveled back home for Fall break, 40 students interested in careers in finance stayed on campus to take part in a Wall Street preparation workshop organized by the Career and Life Outcomes Center. The program provided a detailed, albeit rigorous, introduction to financial statements modeling and valuation.

  • The morning sky was still dark as 32 students walked up the Hill and boarded a bus to New York City on April 9. They were on their way to meet with alumni at the asset management/insurance institution AIG and two investment banks, Citigroup and Deutsche Bank, to learn more about careers in finance.

  • With graduation approaching, it may seem unusual that two senior economics majors have organized a trip to New York City for underclass students to meet with alumni executives at various financial institutions. Ramon Villalona and Rashveena Rajaram, co-presidents of Hamilton’s Finance Club, plan to expand their classmates’ vision of their career options  and assist them in making contacts  during this day-long event. 

  • David Solomon ’84, co-head of Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs, returned to Hamilton on Oct. 2 and spoke with students on the role finance plays in the world. Solomon, who majored in government at Hamilton, described how finance had always fascinated and intrigued him because it “helps [him] put in perspective how the world is changing, and how all of those changes affect all of us and what we do.” 

  • Fifty Hamilton students had the chance to take part in an intensive, 12-hour boot camp in accounting and financial modelling over fall break, thanks to a generous donation by alumni. The course provided a wonderful addition that enriched students’ liberal arts experience and enhanced the profile of students interested in top investment banks, private equity firms, investment funds and business schools. The boot camp was organized by the Career Center.

  • Mihai Dohotaru, a class of 2013 graduate, is jumping directly into a career in business. He began a job this summer with UBS as a financial analyst, taking on a lot of responsibility within the financial services company.
