  • The Hamilton College Department of Dance and Movement Studies will present its annual Spring Dance Concert on Friday, March 2, and Saturday, March 3, at 8 p.m., in Wellin Hall. The performance will feature student dancers and choreography by Hamilton faculty Sandra Stanton and Paris Wilcox ’95 in addition to guest choreographers Misung Hong, Heather Koniz ’04 and Jeremy Raia.  

  • The Hamilton College Department of Dance and Movement Studies will present its Fall Dance Concert on Friday, Nov. 11, and Saturday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m., in Wellin Hall. The performance will feature student dancers and choreography by Hamilton College faculty Elaine Heekin, Sandra Stanton, Bruce Walczyk and Paris Wilcox.

  • A memorial service for Associate Professor of Dance Emerita Leslie Norton will be held at the Hamilton College chapel on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. A member of the Hamilton faculty from 1984-2011, Professor Norton died on July 25 after a lengthy illness. A reception in Dwight Lounge of the Bristol Center will follow the service.

  • Dean of Faculty Patrick Reynolds announced the promotion of five Hamilton faculty members to the rank of professor.  Todd Franklin, philosophy; Marianne Janack, philosophy; Katherine Kuharic, art; Bruce Walczyk, dance and movement studies; and Steven Yao, English and creative writing, were promoted effective July 1.

  • President Joan Hinde Stewart announced the passing of Associate Professor of Dance Emerita Leslie Norton in an e-mail to the campus community on July 25:   With deep sadness I write to inform you that Associate Professor of Dance Emerita Leslie Norton died Saturday following a lengthy illness. She was 58 and had recently retired from the Hamilton faculty after 27 years.

  • The Departments of Music and Dance and Movement Studies will offer a full schedule of free performances in Wellin Hall during the College’s Family Weekend, Friday, Oct. 29, and Saturday, Oct. 30.

  • Yan Kit Pang ’10 returned to Hamilton to teach hip-hop in Associate Professor of Dance Elaine Heekin’s advanced contemporary dance and theory class on Oct. 11. Pang is involved with the Hamilton Center for the Arts, a multi-focus arts facility in Hamilton, N.Y., where he hopes to develop and build a dance department.

  • Associate Professor of Dance Bruce Walczyk presented “African Martial Art Concepts & Capoeira” and “Kali/Silat: Filipino & Malaysian Martial Culture” at the American College Dance Festival Conference held Feb. 19 - 22 at Mercyhurst College .
