The Hamilton College Department of Dance and Movement Studies will present its annual Spring Dance Concert on Saturday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall.

Hamilton's Department of Dance and Movement Studies will present its annual Spring Dance Concert on Friday, March 3, and Saturday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and Performing Arts. The performance will feature Hamilton student dancers and choreography by Hamilton faculty Sandra Stanton-Cotter and Paris Wilcox in addition to guest choreographers Chuyun Oh, David Fernandez, and Catherine Wright.

When the critically acclaimed modern dance company H.T. Chen & Dancers performed at Hamilton on Nov. 5 some members of the troupe probably looked familiar. Five Hamilton student dancers joined the company in their original performance, which combines traditional Chinese music and Deep South blues to tell the story of immigration and civil rights through a fusion of two cultural styles of dance.

Hamilton’s Department of Dance and Movement Studies will present its annual Spring Dance Concert on Friday, March 4, and Saturday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall. The performance will feature student dancers and choreography by Hamilton faculty Sandra Stanton-Cotter, Bruce Walczyk and Paris Wilcox ’95 in addition to guest choreographers Chuyun Oh, Jeremy Raia and Catherine Wright.

Hamilton’s Department of Dance and Movement Studies was profiled in the July 2015 issue of Dance Studio Life Magazine.  Each issue highlights “College Close ups: What Students Need to Know about University Dance Programs.”

The Department of Dance and Movement Studies will present its annual Spring Dance Concert on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and Performing Arts.

Werewere-Liking, an artist and philanthropist from the Ivory Coast, will visit Hamilton on Nov. 19 and 20.  She will hold a workshop on Hidjingo, a Ki-Yi Mbock healing dance on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m., in the Blood Fitness Center Dance Studio, and will give a talk, “Profession: ‘Woman.’ Lessons learned from grandma for action in modern times” on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 4:10 p.m., in the Kennedy Auditorium, Taylor Science Center.  Both events are free and open to the public.

The performance will feature Hamilton student dancers and choreography by Hamilton faculty Elaine Heekin, Sandra Stanton, Bruce Walczyk and Paris Wilcox ’95 in addition to guest choreographer Matthew Powell.

Professor of Dance Elaine Heekin collaborated with Richard Lloyd, lecturer in dance and movement studies, to create Wordplay, which was shown Dec. 4 on the Colgate campus. The project was the result of a vocal workshop Lloyd offered to Colgate students.

The performance will feature student dancers and choreography by Hamilton faculty Elaine Heekin, Sandra Stanton, Bruce Walczyk and Paris Wilcox in addition to guest choreographer Mikhail Ilyin.
