More than 125 Hamilton students took part in the 14th annual Hamilton Association for Volunteering Outreach and Charity (HAVOC) Make a Difference Day. Individual students, teams and groups signed up for a wide range of volunteer opportunities to engage in for the day.

Nearly 150 students will gather for Hamilton’s 17th annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Service Day on Saturday, Jan. 24. The community service event, run by the Hamilton Association for Volunteering, Outreach and Charity ( HAVOC), sends students to a wide variety of non-profit organizations across the area for volunteer work.

Hamilton community service programs HAVOC and COOP collected food, gifts and other items to make the holidays a bit happier for some local families. The Hamilton Association for Volunteering, Outreach and Charity (HAVOC) sponsored a holiday Mitten Tree, bearing gift requests from children with a need.  The children’s gift requests came through House of Good Shepherd,  Johnson Park Center (JPC) in Utica, Upstate Cerebral Palsy, Siegenthaler Center (Hospice) and Rome DSS.

In what has become an end-of-semester tradition,  students were able to take a break from studying for finals and spend some time relaxing with pets during HAVOC’s  “Paws to Relax” in the Annex on Dec. 9.

More than 160 students geared up for some fierce competition on Nov. 15 as Hamilton Association for Volunteering Outreach and Charity (HAVOC) hosted its 13th Annual Dodgeball Tournament. The event raised more than $775 for Hamilton’s first Team IMPACT player, Sophia Johnson.

In what has become a once-a-semester event,  students were able to take a break from studying for finals and spend some time relaxing with pets  during HAVOC’s  “Paws to Relax” in the Annex on May 8.  More than 15 faculty and staff dogs came by for a visit with students.  Hamilton students signed up for $5, 10-minute time slots and donations went to Spring Farm Cares, a local animal sanctuary.

Seven Hamilton students are winding up their semester volunteering at Tradewinds Education Center of Upstate Cerebral Palsy, which serves students with behavioral and developmental disabilities.

More than 80 students volunteered at non-profit agencies in the local community on Saturday, Jan. 26, for Hamilton’s 15th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Service Day. Hamilton Association for Volunteering, Outreach and Charity (HAVOC) sent groups of students to 19 different sites to spend the afternoon working on various projects.

For the third semester, Hamilton students were able to take a break from studying for finals and spend some time relaxing with pets from the Rome Humane Society in an event hosted by HAVOC and Active Minds.  Three cats were brought to the Fillius Events Barn for the event on Dec. 13, followed by two dogs on the 14th.
