Assistant Professor of Art Rob Knight took his Advanced Photography students to an education conference in New York City on Oct. 28 and 29. “Depth of our Field: Collaborations and Partnerships in Arts Education” was sponsored by the Penumbra Foundation.

Photographs from Assistant Professor of Art Robert Knight’s “In God’s House” project are on display in exhibitions at the Visual Art Exchange in Raleigh, N.C., and the Union Street Gallery in Chicago.

“Class of 2015,” a longitudinal portrait project comprising photographs and video interviews that examine the development of personal identity among a group of students from Hamilton's class of 2015, will open at the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art on June 4. Assistant Professor of Art Robert Knight began this series in 2011, when he started teaching at Hamilton. A reception will be held on Thursday, June 4, from 4 to 6 p.m.

One of the chief benefits of a liberal arts education, and of Hamilton’s open curriculum in particular, is the opportunity that it affords students to experiment academically and to discover their passions. So it was with Sean Henry-Smith ’15, a student who until the second semester of his first year at Hamilton had never picked up a camera, and who now just graduated from Hamilton with a paid internship at the Light Work center in Syracuse, N.Y.

An audio/photo essay by Assistant Professor of Art Robert Knight is featured on the homepage of Religious Studies News. “Rome: Eternal City / Plural City” showcases the multicultural and multireligious character of Rome, Italy, and includes some recent work Knight created while there this spring.

Photographer Bill Jacobson will present a lecture about his work on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 4:15 p.m., in the Bradford Auditorium as part of Hamilton’s Visiting Artist Series. This lecture is sponsored by the Art Department and is free and open to the public.

Associate Professor of History Lisa Trivedi delivered a paper "Depicting Labour, Performing Labour: Working Women in Pranlal Patel's Jyoti Sangh Series" and Chaired a panel at a conference held at Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi, India.

Assistant Professor of Art Rob Knight has a solo exhibition of his project In God's House currently on view at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Porter Butts Gallery through Dec. 2. The project was supported by the Levitt Center and was developed over the past two summers with Visiting Associate Professor of Religious Studies Brent Plate.

Paul Clemence, New York-based photographer and author, will present a lecture, “Perception Meets Expression,” on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 4:15 p.m., in the Overlook in the Wellin Museum of Art. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will discuss the perception and expression of architecture through the photographic lens.

Assistant Professor of Art Rob Knight took his Advanced Photo class (Art 302) on a field trip to the Society for Photographic Education Regional Conference in Albany on Oct. 19. Knight was one of the presenters, giving a talk on his Levitt Center-supported project In God's House.
