On November 4, students in the Washington Program met with Stuart Ingis ’93 and the Honorable Birch Bayh, partners of Venable LLP. A nationally recognized expert in Internet law, Ingis represents clients in federal privacy and Internet-related legislation and rulemaking proceedings.

Following the September 11th attacks, torture has been made a conscious policy choice of our government, journalist and Utica native Mark Danner told the audience in the Hamilton College Chapel on Nov. 4. His lecture, "Obama, Torture and Human Rights," detailed the issue of torture within modern day American politics.

Visiting Associate Professor of Religious Studies Brent Rodriguez-Plate guest edited an issue of the journal CrossCurrents (Wiley-Blackwell publishers). The theme of the September 2009 issue is "The Varieties of Contemporary Pilgrimage."

Hamilton College Performing Arts and the Mohawk Valley Dance Partnership presents Philadanco: The Philadelphia Dance Company, on Friday, Nov. 6, at 8 p.m. in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for the Performing Arts. American political reporter Eleanor Clift delivered a lecture titled “Politics in the Age of Obama” on Nov. 3 in the Science Center’s Kennedy Auditorium. A longtime reporter and editor of Newsweek magazine, her column “Capitol Letter” can be found in both Newsweek and on the MSNBC Web site.
