An article titled “Normed Algebras and the Geometric Series Test” co-authored by Professor of Mathematics Robert Kantrowitz ’82 was recently published in the journal Surveys in Mathematics and its Applications.

The Hamilton Mathletics Team took part in the annual William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition on Dec. 2. The competition took the form of a six-hour written exam, which the team had trained for throughout the fall semester.

Assistant Professor of Physics Viva Horowitz recently gave an invited research presentation titled “Confining colloids: From dynamic artificial cells to luminescent nanodiamond sensors” at Union College.

At the First-Year Course Conference on Dec. 2, 10 different first-year courses from across disciplines came together to present their work from the semester. For four hours, one corner of the library was populated by colorful posters, literature and artwork, as well as groups of students showing off their skits and presentations.

Club Ento hosted a dinner at Azel Backus House on Saturday, Dec. 2, that enabled guests, some formally attired, to experience a meal enriched with crickets.

Ashley Bohrer, the Truax Postdoctoral Fellow and visiting assistant professor of philosophy, made presentations at several conferences this fall.

They are partners in poetry: Marty Cain '13 majored in interdisciplinary poetics at Hamilton, received a M.F.A. in poetics , and published Kids of the Black Hole. Kina Viola '13 majored in creative writing and edits and designs chapbooks. Together, they run Garden-Door Press.

Mike Dubke ’92 P ’19, veteran communications operative and former assistant in the Trump White House, and Marc Elias ’90, a partner with Perkins Coie who served as general counsel for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, met for a live Facebook chat on Dec. 2. The two discussed America’s increasingly polarizing political divide and what created this division, a conversation inspired by Hamilton’s Common Ground event.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature Nhora Lucía Serrano’s review of Graphic Borders: Latino Comic Books Past, Present and Future was recently published in the Journal of American Ethnic History.
