Several Hamilton students and faculty members attended an annual undergraduate classics research conference on April 17. Each year the conference is hosted by Hamilton, Union College, Skidmore College or Colgate University. Union was this year’s host.

The Theatre Department's presentation of Our Town, directed by Professor Craig Latrell, continues this week. Performances will run Wednesday, April 22 – Saturday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m.  in the new state-of-the-art Romano Theatre within the Kennedy Center for Theatre and the Studio Arts.

Sam Matlick’s ’17 idea for a non-profit that will provide financial support for economically disadvantaged families with a terminally ill loved one took second place at a New York State regional pitch competition.

Ernest Williams, the William R. Kenan Professor of Biology emeritus, presented “Monarch Butterflies: An Endangered Migration” on April 16 at the Discovery Center of the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. The talk was part of the center’s Science Lecture Series.

Director of Library Information Systems Ken Herold has guest edited another special issue for the critical professional journal Library Trends, titled "Exploring Philosophies of Information."

A routine meeting about a school visit to the Wellin Museum between representatives of the museum and a Clinton Middle School art teacher has led to a rewarding collaboration for both Hamilton College students and Clinton middle schoolers.

Students in the NYC program were given a tour of the Highline, a park/walkway built from the remains of an elevated New York Central Railroad line on April 15. The group’s guide was Hamilton alumnus John Allen ’60 who lives in the Chelsea area with his wife. He had many stories to tell about the neighborhoods surrounding the Highline and the donors who helped make this urban green space possible.

Associate Professor of Chemistry Myriam Cotten was recently named a Cottrell Scholar by the Research Corporation for Science Advancement (RCSA). The awards are granted to teacher-scholars of chemistry, physics and astronomy through a peer-review process.

DW Akademie, Germany's leading organization for international media development, interviewed Philip Klinkner, the James S. Sherman Professor of Government, for an article titled “Leading Republican candidates have yet to announce presidential bid” published on April 14. 

A New York Times feature article titled “Butterflies in Your Stomach” focused on Club Ento, a campus organization whose goals are “to increase awareness of and access to edible insects and their benefits and to lower both the intellectual and physical barriers to entomophagy (the consumption of insects),” according to the club's website. The April 12 Education Life section article referenced the group’s panel on crickets, among other activities.
