Herb Hand ’90 recently joined the University of Texas football coaching staff as their new co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. Former Hamilton College football star Hand, a Westmoreland, N.Y. native and a veteran offensive line coach, has helped coordinate numerous dynamic offenses in his 27 years of coaching.

The fourth edition of Fair Play: The Ethics of Sport by Robert Simon, the Walcott-Bartlett Professor of Philosophy, was published in July by Westview Press of Perseus Books.

Walcott D. Bartlett Professor of Philosophy Robert Simon presented a lecture, “Theories of Sport: Their Nature, Significance, and Application” on Oct. 17 at Penn State University.

A lecture by University of Southern California professor William Morgan, titled “Lance Armstrong: Why There Are No Winners in the Doping Wars in Sport,” originally scheduled for Thursday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m., has been cancelled.  Bad weather in the Midwest has forced multiple flight cancellations. The lecture will not be rescheduled this semester.

Scott Kretchmar, professor of exercise and sport science at Penn State University, will present a lecture, "Explaining Fascination With Sport: The High, The Low, and The in Between,” on Wednesday, April 21, at 8 p.m., in the Science Center's Kennedy Auditorium. The talk is free and open to the public.

Jan Boxill, director of the Parr Center for Ethics at the University of North Carolina, will speak on “The Moral Significance of Sport” on Wednesday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Dwight Lounge in the Bristol Campus Center at Hamilton College. The talk is free and open to the public.
