Hamilton’s Class of 2014 Senior Gift campaign has set the record for the highest participation rate of any senior class, with 98.1 percent participation. Their $36,890, which includes a $10k match from President Joan Stewart, will go toward a planned terrace at the Siuda House Admission Office that commemorates the Class of 2014 as the first need-blind class.

Hamilton’s Class of 2014 has voted for its Senior Gift to be funding toward a planned terrace at the Siuda House Admission Office that commemorates the Class of 2014 as the first need-blind class. The Senior Gift was announced at the Kickoff reception on Sept. 26 in the Wellin Atrium of the Taylor Science Center.

Last month, four hundred and ninety nine Hamilton students walked across the graduation stage in the Margaret Bundy Scott Fieldhouse. With that walk across the stage, those students joined the prestigious ranks of Hamilton College alumni.  In honor of this accomplishment, as well as to give back and thank the College for all it has given them, the Class of 2010 created an Environmental Sustainability Fund as its Senior Gift. The 2010 Senior Gift Committee is proud to announce that of those four hundred and ninety nine class mates, four hundred and eighty five donated to the gift, achieving an astounding 97.2% participation!  This exceptional result just barely misses the record set by the Class of 2007 (and puts ’10 in third place in the 28-year history of the senior gift). 

The Class of 2009 held a celebratory tree-planting and plaque unveiling ceremony in honor of their time on the Hill and their Senior Gift on Saturday, May 23, near the Kirner-Johnson Building ramp.

The Class of 2008 Senior Gift Committee, meeting on Thursday, Sept. 27, revealed the winning idea for the senior gift campaign. The gift option that won by an impressive number of votes was the Class of 2008 environmental endowment fund. Presented by senior co-chairs Ned Gilliss and Blythe Winchester, the gift will be a yearly grant awarded to a Hamilton student or campus organization in order to fund a green project on campus or environmental research. The fund also will be accompanied by a planted tree and plaque to commemorate the ‘08 gift. Gilliss expressed confidence in the campaign’s successful start, citing the high number of class participants in the gift survey and the strong support for the winning idea.
