The Orchard at Hamilton, an artist residency and development program constituting a nine-day stay on campus by a number of alumni and undergraduates, is beginning to flourish this week.

The Theatre Department's presentation of Our Town, directed by Professor Craig Latrell, continues this week. Performances will run Wednesday, April 22 – Saturday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m.  in the new state-of-the-art Romano Theatre within the Kennedy Center for Theatre and the Studio Arts.

The Hamilton College Theatre Department presents Our Town by Thornton Wilder as its Spring Theater Production. Performances will run Thursday, April 16 – Saturday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m., and Wednesday, April 22 – Saturday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. A matinee will be performed on Saturday, April 18, at 2 p.m. All performances take place in the new state-of-the-art Romano Theatre within the Kennedy Center for Theatre and the Studio Arts.

Hamilton students might be nearing the end of their spring break but they’ll have plenty to look forward to as the spring semester resumes on March 30.  The college calendar is loaded with upcoming lectures, performance and events from now until the end of the semester. Multimedia artist Curt Confer ’02 will present a lecture titled “Time Warp: Getting Lost in NYC’s Experimental Art Scene” on Friday, March 6, at 4:15 p.m., in the Kennedy Center’s Barrett Lab Theatre. Confer’s lecture is sponsored by the Theatre Department and is free and open to the public.

Visiting Professor of Theater Andrew Holland designed the scenery for Opera San Antonio's premier, full-stage production of Richard Strauss' Salome. The show opened on Jan. 8 in the newly constructed Tobin Center for the Performing Arts in San Antonio, Texas.

Tickets remain for the Thursday, Jan. 22, Theatre Department performance of The Mountaintop by Katori Hall in the Barrett Theatre, Kennedy Center for Theatre and the Studio Arts.  Tuesday and Wednesday's dinner performances are sold out.

While many students in the class of 2016 are either abroad or at Hamilton programs in New York City and Washington, D.C., both Carrie Solomon ’16 and Jessye McGarry ’16 opted for an alternate city experience. This fall, the two students have pursued their passion for comedy in a semester-long program, straight from the source at The Second City’s Chicago-based comedic headquarters.

The Hamilton College Theatre Department announces the fall theater production, A Dream Play, by August Strindberg in a new version by Caryl Churchill. Performances will run Nov. 6 – Nov. 8, and  Nov. 12 –  Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8. All performances will take place in the new state-of-the-art Romano Theatre within the Kennedy Center for Theatre and the Studio Arts.

Hamilton College is one of 25 schools selected by The Acting Company to participate in a new national consortium-based performance and education initiative comprised of universities, colleges, public/private high schools and community organizations.  Each consortium will offer professional development opportunities with playwrights, actors, designers, directors and educators over the next three years.
