  • In celebration of the upcoming exhibition, Julia Jacquette: Unrequited and Acts of Play, opening at the Wellin Museum of Art on Feb. 18, Director Tracy Adler and New York-based artist Jacquette hosted a reception on this month in Manhattan.

  • The American Alliance of Museums published "It’s Time to Sell the Sizzle," an essay by the Wellin Museum’s Educator for School and Community Programs Amber Spadea, on its Center for the Future of Museums blog this month.

  • In the final chapter of its 200th anniversary observance, Hamilton concluded its on June 30, 2013, with gifts and pledges of $139.8 million.  Bicentennial Initiatives was centered on the College’s three most pressing priorities: student financial aid, growing unrestricted support through the Annual Fund.

  • Hamilton’s up-and-coming artists and actors will have an integrated home when the new theatre and studio arts complex is completed in July 2014.  The new center will contain three main areas for the arts, theatre and digital arts and by virtue of its central location will become the “front porch” of campus,  according to Professor of Music Sam Pellman, who has led the campus planning committee for the new arts facilities.

  • The Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum, Hamilton’s biggest summer construction project, is in its final stages.  Steve Bellona, associate vice president for facilities & planning, reported that  final finish work on the interior is in progress.  Wood flooring in the main gallery is being installed and is expected to be complete at the end of this week.

  • On the eve of the completion of the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art, groundbreaking for the College’s new theatre and studio arts center was celebrated on Friday, July 20. The theatre and studio arts center is part of an arts complex that includes the Wellin Museum of Art, the Molly Root House and a revitalized pond and landscaping.
