  • The American College of Physicians (ACP) named Hamilton alumna Christine Laine '83, MD, MPH, FACP editor of its flagship journal, Annals of Internal Medicine last week. A former vice president and senior deputy editor of Annals, Laine is the youngest editor in the journal's history. She graduated summa cum laude from Hamilton with a double major in writing and biology.

  • Eight seniors presented their government senior honors theses at the 63rd Annual New York State Political Science Association Conference at John Jay College in New York City from April 24 – 25. The event drew 200 to 250 panelists, presenters and round table participants from around the country.

  • Greg Casey, a candidate for May graduation from Hamilton, has been awarded a Fulbright Grant to Jamaica. This grant will enable him to complete the MSc program in economic development policy at the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies at the University of West Indies in Mona, Jamaica. 

  • The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, N.Y. has placed New Hampshire artist Amy O'Shaughnessy's glass Iguana into its permanent collection. O'Shaughnessy (formerly Kapacziewski) graduated from Hamilton College in 1999. According to a news release: "While on the hill, the great professor, Bob Palusky introduced Amy to glass and she fell in love with the medium."

  • A large contingent of Hamilton folks joined the greater Utica community for a clean-up at Utica Marsh on Saturday, April 25. About 150 people showed up on the clear, warm morning and cleaned up large piles of trash and tires. This annual community service event is sponsored by the Utica Marsh Council, an organization that promotes environmental education at the Marsh. Professor of Biology Ernest Williams is one of the active leaders of the Council.

  • Hamilton College picked up two wins in the top three singles flights, but the visiting Continentals lost a New England Small College Athletic Conference match against Connecticut College, 6-3, at South Tennis Courts on April 25.
