While Hamilton students are on spring break, science faculty opened their labs to welcome third graders from Myles Elementary School in New Hartford for some hands-on learning.

Six Hamilton students are spending their Spring Break in Kyoto, Japan, as part of a Japanese Studies class with Professor Kyoko Omori. The students spend their mornings taking Japanese lessons at Doshisha University and their afternoons visiting famous landmarks throughout Kyoto and Southern Japan. Monk Rowe, the Joe Williams Director of Fillius Jazz Archive and lecturer in music, presented two programs at SUNY Fredonia on March 22.

Hamilton Mock Trial ended its 2016-17 competitive season at the Lancaster, Pa., Opening Round Championship Series (ORCS) competition on March 17 to 19. Hamilton was one of 24 teams at the competition, and only six teams advance to the national competition later this spring. Ultimately, Hamilton placed 7th, narrowly missing the opportunity to compete at the national level.

Alan Cafruny, the Henry Platt Bristol Professor of International Affairs, recently presented invited lectures at UCLA and King’s College London. He also writes a monthly column for the Valdai International Discussion Club.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Literature and Creative Writing Andrew Rippeon joined a panel on the life and work of poet Larry Eigner (1927 - 1996) at the 45th annual Louisville Conference on Literature and Culture Since 1900 in February.

Assistant Professors of Physics Viva Horowitz and Kristen Burson presented papers at the American Physical Society (APS) meeting held March 13th to 17th in New Orleans.
