The Hamilton College men's hockey team is ranked 15th in this week's D3hockey.com national poll. This marks the Continentals' first appearance in this poll, which is in its fifth year.

Members of the men’s and women’s golf teams participated in the Jan. 23 HAVOC MLK Service Day.  They moved office furniture and organized files at the Samaritan Counseling Center. A record 195 Hamilton students took part in the 18th annual event, volunteering at 22 local non-profit organizations.

Last week, 28 students from Hamilton, Grinnell, Scripps and Smith College visited the Spanish region of Andalusia as part of the  Hamilton College Academic Year in Spain orientation trip. Andalusia is the most populated Spanish Autonomous Community.   Among other products, Andalusia is also known for its olive oil production.

Professor of Biology Sue Ann Miller served on the Grants-in-Aid of Research (GIAR) Committee of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society, in Research Triangle Park, N.C. Miller has served as an evaluator since 2000 and chaired the committee from 2001 to 2007.

In his Jan. 25 talk “Leading Nowhere: the Futility and Farce of Global Climate Negotiations,” Oren Cass criticized the global approach to addressing climate change. He claimed that it’s not that leaders don’t want to reduce emissions, it’s that it isn’t possible based on insurmountable challenges like cost and complexity. 

In a competitive job market, interviewing is arguably the most determinative aspect of the hiring process. On Jan. 24, a group of students attended the Career and Life Outcomes Center’s Sixth Annual Interview Mojo, an “intensive event designed to provide a meaningful chance to learn about and practice the lifelong skill of interviewing.”

Last semester Professor Phil Klinkner's Government 223 class studied the political dynamics of the presidential nomination process, paying special attention to the 2016 election cycle. They were able to earn a half credit by volunteering on a presidential campaign over their winter break. Mike Verostek ’16 offers this view of Hillary Clinton’s campaign in New Hampshire. Last week Brian Ferrell ’16 shared his experiences on the Jeb Bush campaign in Iowa.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics Jesse Weiner recently published “The Many Forms of Persian Decline after Cyrus,” an online, peer-reviewed commentary to the epilogue of Xenophon’s Cyropaedia (Education of Cyrus).

During the fall semester, 12 Hamilton students taught Spanish to students at Clinton Elementary School. These Hamilton students participated in a training workshop in order to learn about teaching methods and to discuss lesson plans. The program began in October and continued through the end of the semester.

The men’s hockey team took over the nation's longest unbeaten streak, stretching their run to 11 games without a loss and posting a 6-2 non-league win over Daniel Webster Saturday at Russell Sage Rink.
