Associate Director for Digital Learning and Research Nhora Lucía Serrano recently published a book chapter on “Columbia and the Editorial Cartoon” in The Oxford Handbook of Comic Book Studies.

Howard Morgan ’84 became chair of the Parkinson’s Foundation board of directors in June. He’d been involved with a previous iteration of the board since 2004, drawn to the cause because his late father suffered from the disease.

At first glance, Eric Grossman ’88 may seem like just another man in a power suit working at an investment bank in Manhattan. As the chief legal officer at Morgan Stanley, Grossman commutes from the New York suburbs, where he lives with his family. But here’s the twist: He wants to overturn a long-standing American tradition — the two-party political system.

Even before some first-year students set foot on Hamilton’s campus for the first time, they get an email about the Community Service Internship (CSI) program. The program is offered through the Community Outreach & Opportunity Program (COOP) and pairs incoming first-year students with a four-semester, paid internship with community partner agencies in the Mohawk Valley.

Hamilton College Higher Education Opportunity Programs (HEOP) students Shelby Amour Castillo ‘19, Shavell Jones ‘21, Adriana Cruz ’21, and Nasheley Boursiquot ’22, were invited to New York State Opportunity Programs Conference (NYSOP) in Syracuse, N.Y. — a conference created by and for HEOP and EOP students.

Eleven Hamilton students are trekking in the Annapurna region of Nepal over spring break. The students are members of History Professor Maurice Isserman’s Himalayan Mountaineering class this semester and are supervised on the trip by Assistant Director of Outdoor Leadership Sarah Jillings. Student participants are, Urbana Anam ’21, Matt Casadei ’19, Peter Case ’21, Jake Colangelo ’20, Ruth Coolidge ’21, Elyssa Feuer ’19 Alexandra Hendry ’19, Peter Schavee ’21, Joey West ’22, and Rachel Zuckerman ’19. Former participant and campus EMT Jack Gumina ‘'19 is along as a co-leader and trip medic.

The fifth edition of Industrial Organization: Theory and Practice, co-authored by Professor of Economics Betsy Jensen, was recently published by Routledge.

Adrian Summers ’19 has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to Kenya. A Theatre and Africana Studies major, he answered some questions about his time at Hamilton and what he hopes to accomplish through his Fulbright ETA.

Assistant Professor of Classics Jesse Weiner recently presented papers at the Northeast Modern Language Association meeting in Washington, D.C., and at Illinois Wesleyan University.
