Hamilton College rowed in a scrimmage against Colgate University in the Head of the Lake Moraine, which was held in Hamilton, N.Y., on Oct. 11.

Christopher Daniels '85 has created a new association to support Hamiltonians who are involved in new enterprises called Hamilton Ventures. Daniels majored in economics at Hamilton and went on to earn his MBA at Cornell University. More than 200 alumni have registered for Hamilton Ventures.Org which is intended to support entrepeneurs in both for-profit and non-profit areas.

Professor of Chemistry Tim Elgren served as a facilitator at the Midwest Regional Workshop on Institutionalizing Undergraduate Research held at Hope College October 10-12. The workshop was funded by the National Science Foundation and coordinated by the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR). Eight institutional teams, consisting of faculty members and administrators, worked with facilitators to develop action plans for implementing sustainable undergraduate research programs on their campuses.

Rachel Richardson, a senior creative writing major at Hamilton, has published a short story, "Trapeze," in The Minnesota Review, a long-established, nationally distributed literary journal published by Carnegie Mellon University. Associate Professor of  English Doran Larson notes, "Not only is it a rare achievement for an undergraduate to publish so prominently, "Trapeze" is the lead story in the issue -- an honor for any writer."

As part of an opinion research project initiated by the Alumni Office and prepared by the independent Boston-based marketing research firm Wallace & Washburn, more than 12,000  alumni were invited to participate in an electronic survey that measured a wide range of opinions about the Hamilton experience, ways alumni receive their information, levels of involvement and philanthropy to the College. Some 33 percent of those invited to complete the survey did so.

Union College scored off a free kick 2 minutes, 44 seconds into the first overtime and the visiting Dutchmen defeated Hamilton College 2-1 in a Liberty League game played at Love Field on Oct. 11.

Mark Snickenberger '11 tied a Hamilton College record with four rushing touchdowns and the Continentals went on to a 28-17 New England Small College Athletic Conference victory against visiting Bowdoin College at Steuben Field on Oct. 11.

"My Brothers' Eyes: How My Blind Brothers Taught Me to See," the lecture by University of Toronto professor Daniel R. Brooks scheduled for Monday, Oct. 13, at Hamilton, has been postponed. Organizers hope to reschedule later in the semester.

Jesse Arroyave '11 snapped a 1-1 tie with an unassisted goal with 6:44 left in regulation and Hamilton College held on for a 2-1 Liberty League victory against visiting Skidmore College at Love Field on Oct. 10.
