Trailblazing First-Gens Share Experiences
In celebration of National First-Gen Student Week, we recognized our many students who identify as “first-generation” — the first in their families to complete or pursue a bachelor’s degree. Many first-generation students arrive at Hamilton through college access program communities, such as Opportunity Programs (OP), Posse, and QuestBridge. Communications Office student writer Alejandro Sosa Hernández ’26 recently interviewed several first-gens to talk about being college trailblazers.
Innovation Center Reaches Major Construction Milestone
The final beam of Hamilton’s future Innovation Center has been lifted into place, marking a significant step forward in the construction of the College’s soon-to-be newest academic facility.
Harris '26 impressive in NCAA women's cross country championship
Hamilton's Taylor Harris '26 ended up in 77th place out of 290 finishers at the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship, which was held at the Roger Milliken Center, Spartanburg, S.C., on Nov. 22.

Trustee David Blood ’81, founding and senior partner of Generation Investment Management and a leader in establishing Hamilton’s need-blind admission policy, received an honorary Doctor of Laws from the College on Dec. 5 at the annual 1812 Leadership Circle dinner in New York City.

Enzo Battaglia ’26 entered Columbia Law School this fall through the highly selective Accelerated Interdisciplinary Legal Education (AILE) program, which permits students to earn both a bachelor’s degree from Hamilton and a juris doctor degree from Columbia after three years of study at each institution.

This summer, Levitt Center student researchers Luke Hanson ’26, Delaney Patterson ’26, Samuel Low ’28, and Ton Somnug ’27 joined forces with Griffiss Institute CEO and Hamilton alumna Heather Hage ’02 to investigate the holistic impact of federal spending on the local economy. In November, the Griffiss Institute released findings from the research study.

National and regional news organizations regularly interview Hamilton faculty, staff, alumni, and students for their expertise and perspectives on current events, and to feature programs and activities on campus. November’s news topics included coverage of free speech, Democratic Socialism, and gambling, among others.

Professor of Art Robert Knight and Michael Shapiro ’71, director emeritus of Atlanta’s High Museum of Art, first taught From Collecting to Curating five years ago, but it has returned this year with a twist. The course is divided into three parts with one new goal: to curate an exhibition at the Munson in Utica, N.Y.
