CSTEP

New York State established CSTEP for its residents in 1986 with the purpose of increasing the number of economically disadvantaged students and others who are pursuing professional licensure and careers in mathematics, science, technology and health-related fields. Currently, 77 CSTEP programs exist throughout the state. Hamilton has been awarded it’s first CSTEP grant in 2025-26.

CSTEP is built for students who want more:

Faculty-mentored research and paid internships
Priority academic support (tutoring, study groups, skill-building workshops)
One-on-one advising and mentorship from faculty, alumni, and professionals
Career and grad school preparation (Free KAPLAN MCAT/LSAT/GRE test prep, access to CareerSprings professional prep platform, resume support, mock interviews, etc)
A built-in community of peers on similar academic and career paths
Academic and Career development activities

First-Gen students
New York State Residents
Pell Eligible students

Who should apply?

You should consider applying if you:

Are interested in or pursuing a STEM, Health, Law or a licensed profession
Are majoring or planning to major in fields such as biology, chemistry, computer science, neuroscience, math/statistics, economics, environmental studies, psychology, physics, or related areas
Are motivated to participate in research, internships, or career-related experiences during your time at Hamilton
Would benefit from structured support, mentorship, and academic community
