You can learn a great deal about Hamilton by exploring our website or reading our publications, but there’s no substitute for being here. Take a campus tour, sit in on an information session, interview with a Hamilton Admission representative, have lunch with a student, or visit a class.

People don’t join the Hamilton community for just four years; they belong for a lifetime. For many students, membership in that enduring community begins with the personal interview. Because the admission committee works hard to ensure “fit” when determining admission decisions, personal interviews are strongly encouraged. An interview provides us with a sense of your personal strengths and interests that may not be obvious in an application. It also gives you a chance to ask questions and learn more about Hamilton in a personal setting.

Personal interviews are conducted by admission officers or Hamilton seniors who are carefully selected and trained for this purpose. On-campus interviews are available as follows:

  • Most weekdays: 9:15 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.
  • Most Saturdays in the fall: 9:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 1 p.m., 1:45 p.m.

To schedule an on-campus interview, please use our online registration form. Because our interviews are fully booked weeks in advance, try to schedule an interview well before your intended visit.

Applicants who are unable to visit campus for an interview, may request an off-campus interview with an alumni representative through their My Hamilton applicant portal. If we cannot locate an alumni volunteer in the area, a Skype interview will be assigned. Learn more about Off-Campus Interviews.

Open to admitted students in April, the Admission Office offers the opportunity to be our guest for lunch in one of our dining halls, hosted by a Hamilton student. Our Lunch With a Student program is a great way to gain a valuable student perspective (as well as sample our food), in addition to what you will learn on a campus tour and/or information session.

Lunch With a Student will be available on select days in April. The lunches will take place between 1-2 p.m.

Visit a Class Professor Franklin"s class

When classes are in session, prospective students who are visitors of the Admission Office are generally welcome to sit in on classes, but are encouraged to arrive five minutes before the class begins to introduce themselves to the professor and to make sure the content for that day is appropriate (not an exam day, etc.).

Hamilton College is able to provide a small number of travel stipends to prospective students whose family financial resources would not otherwise allow them to visit campus. We are no longer accepting Fall 2018 travel scholarship applications. Please check back for more information in the spring.
