Harold Charles Sadin '48

Harold Charles Sadin ’48, who was an internist in the Washington, D.C., area, died on March 30, 2019.

Sadin, of Chevy Chase, Md., was born on April 20, 1929, in New York City, the son of Reuben Sadin and the former Eva Steinberg. He attended Stuyvesant High School.

At Hamilton, Sadin excelled academically: He received the Duell German Prize Scholarship, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and was awarded the Darling Prize in American History. His extracurricular activities included the International ­Relations Club.

Sadin went on from Hamilton to attend Albany Medical College, graduating in 1952. That same year he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

He interned at Mount Sinai Hospital, then did a residency in internal medicine at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, according to the January 1968 Department of State Newsletter. The newsletter also noted that Sadin ­completed a fellowship at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore before beginning private practice in Washington, D.C. At one point he was an assistant clinical professor of medicine at George Washington University.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Zuckerman Sadin, two daughters, a brother, and four grandchildren.
