John Arthur Ennis '19

Dec. 5, 1996-Mar. 27, 2022

John Arthur Ennis ’19 died on March 27, 2022, in San Francisco. Born in Buffalo on Dec. 5, 1996, he was raised in the suburb of Orchard Park and came to Hamilton from the nearby Nichols School. On the Hill, he majored in government, minored in art history, and played defense for the College’s lacrosse team all four years. During his fall semester in 1997, he studied in Copenhagen, where he pursued his interest in architecture. During his time in Denmark, he traveled to Madrid, Prague, and Stockholm.

After graduating, John joined the family business, Continental Paper and Plastics Corp. The company, based in Orchard Park, sells and services packaging equipment and materials. In June 2021, he relocated to San Francisco, where the company already had established a satellite operation. He was tasked with expanding the business, including a major glass recycling operation. In his off hours, he surfed along the California coast.

According to his former roommate, Clay McCollum ’19, John especially valued the relationships he had formed with his lacrosse teammates on the Hill.

John A. Ennis is survived by his parents, sister, and brother.
