Jeffrey William Beaumont '74

Feb. 21, 1952-Oct. 24, 2018

Jeffrey William Beaumont ’74, a financial officer for software companies of Manhattan Beach, Calif., was born on Feb. 21, 1952, in New Brunswick, N.J., the son of the former Marion Tenney and Ralph Beaumont, Jr., president of a chemical company. The family relocated to the Albany, N.Y., area, and Beaumont graduated from Shaker High School in Latham, N.Y., excelling in academics and soccer.

At the College Beaumont majored in history and was a member of Emerson Literary Society. After graduation, he went to live in Germany and traveled throughout Europe and the United States. In 1978, he earned an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.

Beaumont first worked for Xerox in Rochester, N.Y., before relocating to southern California and Manhattan Beach in the 1980s, where he worked as a financial officer for software companies, including serving as the CFO of Davidson & Associates, Inc. One of his favorite stories, according to a submitted obituary, involved “discovering some ingenious young people who were exceptionally capable and creative in the realm of computer programming.” They went on to found Blizzard Entertainment, creators of the massively successful game “World of Warcraft.”

Having retired early at age 45 in 1997, Beaumont enjoyed traveling to Asia, attending concerts, hiking and skiing, and was an avid sports fan, especially of the San Francisco Giants, professional hockey, and the University of Michigan. He also enjoyed music, especially opera.

Jeffrey W. Beaumont died on Oct. 24, 2018. He was 66 and is survived by his stepmother and five siblings.
