  • Home Fire, a new novel by Kamila Shamsie ‘’94 has been named to the Man Booker Prize 2017 longlist, or “Man Booker Dozen.” The Man Booker Prize for Fiction is a prestigious British award, open to writers of any nationality, writing in English and published in the UK.

  • Hamilton College will host an International Writers Week, featuring readings by award-winning contemporary international novelist A.S. Byatt, poet Ishion Hutchinson, and novelist Kamila Shamsie ’94, on Feb. 26 – March 2. All the events are free and open to the public.

  • Marc Simon '94 was named event director of the U.S. PGA Merchandise Show, held annually in Orlando in January, and the U.S. PGA Expo in Las Vegas in August.  Previously, Simon was the PGA Gold Exhibitions group sale director and has been a member of the PGA Show management team since 1998.

  • Heather Haberl '94 was named Up & Coming Real Estate Lawyer of the Year at Chambers USA's first Women in Law Award ceremony at the Plaza Hotel in New York on Feb. 2. The ceremony is the most comprehensive national awards for women lawyers across the country and was supported by America's leading corporate counsel, who are the driving force for diversity in American law firms. Twenty-four awards were presented, with and short-listed firms and nominees selected based on in-depth Chambers research.

But to compete and win it twice in four years is a feat that makes some fans start talking “dynasty.”  With the New York Giants’ 21-17 win over the New England Patriots on Feb. 5 the Giants are among the elite 10 teams that have played in the Super Bowl five or more times. One person helping contribute to the team’s two most recent Super Bowl victories is Sean Ryan ’94, the Giants wide receivers coach.

The award recognizes Simon's leadership inrejuvenating industry participation in the PGA Merchandise Show and PGA Expo, his creativity designing on-site Show programs to increase vendor business, and his success raising exhibitor and attendee satisfaction levels.
