  • Award-winning author and journalist Christopher Dickey will deliver the Commencement address at Hamilton College on Sunday, May 25, at 10:30 a.m., in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. Dickey will be awarded an honorary degree, along with Deborah Bial, founder and president of the Posse Foundation, and Thomas Schwarz '66, president of Purchase College. Singer and songwriter Rosanne Cash will offer the Baccalaureate sermon on Saturday, May 24, at 3 p.m., in the Scott Field House. She will receive an honorary degree from Hamilton in December.

  • When Jessica Moulite ’14 was growing up, she didn’t watch cartoons. Instead, she was only allowed to watch the news. She credits this with giving her a lasting interest in journalism and broadcasting, one which she is exploring this summer through an internship with CBS. With funding from the George and Martha Darcy Internship Support Fund, managed by the Career Center,  she is working with the CBS Evening News and gaining experience toward a future career in broadcast media.

  • Considering how significant even a single semester’s coursework can be, it’s not surprising that many Hamilton students graduate feeling they need a break from formal education. Not so for Anthony Mathieu ’12, who was accepted into a graduate program at Boston Teacher Residency (BTR). Mathieu will spend a year as a resident in a Boston public school classroom in pursuit of a master’s degree in education.

  • Denise Ghartey ’12 has been awarded Hamilton’s Bristol Fellowship. The Bristol Fellowship was begun in 1996 as part of a gift to the college by William M. Bristol Jr., (Class of 1917).  The $22,000 fellowship is designed to encourage Hamilton students to experience the richness of the world by living outside the United States for one year and studying an area of great personal interest.

  • Hamilton College is mourning the death of recent graduate Joshua “Jicks” Hicks ’09.  In an email to the Hamilton community, President Joan Hinde Stewart wrote in part, “It is with immense sadness that I write with news of the death on Friday, April 6, of Joshua ‘Jicks’ Hicks '09, who was a student at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. A wonderful young man of great personal warmth and a talented singer, he came to Hamilton with Boston Posse 4, majored in religious studies and was a member of the Buffers, the choir and ELS."

  • The Posse Foundation honored Hamilton President Joan Hinde Stewart as a 2011 Posse Star at the foundation's anniversary gala on May 25 in New York City.  Posse is a national non-profit that identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may be overlooked by traditional college selection processes.  Hamilton and the Posse Foundation celebrated a 10-year partnership this year.

  • Members of the Posse Foundation and Hamilton community gathered on campus March 31 to celebrate a 10-year partnership. The Posse Foundation was represented by chief operating officer Matthew Fasciano, regional vice president Sue Dalelio,  director of Posse Miami Larissa Ramos,  and Lamont Gordon, director of Posse Boston. Hamilton Posse students and alumni as well as college administrators and faculty attended. Former Posse scholar Hector Acevedo '08 gave the keynote address.

  • Hamilton will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its partnership with the Posse Foundation on March 31. The Posse Foundation identifies, recruits and selects student leaders from public high schools to form multicultural teams called “posses,” which are then placed at top colleges nationwide.

  • The Young People’s Project (YPP) at Hamilton College was featured in the Posse Foundation’s summer 2010 newsletter.

  • Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Monica Inzer was the focus of a feature article in the spring issue of Inside, the newsletter of the Posse Foundation. “Hamilton Dean Promotes Diversity and Access” praised the College’s need-blind policy, expanded partnership with the Posse program and initiation of the First in the Family project and noted Inzer’s involvement in each.
