  • Hamilton’s Mock Trial team competed at Yale University’s Invitational tournament  on Dec. 4-6. Unlike many tournaments, Yale’s divides teams into upper and lower divisions. For the first time in Hamilton’s history, the Mock Trial team competed in the upper division alongside other nationally ranked teams such as Harvard (last year’s national champions), Yale (last year’s 2nd place team at nationals), and New York University (ranked fourth in the nation).

  • Hamilton’s student-run Mock Trial team took home the 1st place trophy from the University of Rochester’s “Yellow Jacket Invitational”  held on Nov. 6-8. This is the third year in a row that the team has won this tournament. In addition, two of Hamilton’s attorneys (Silvia Radulescu ’17 and Andrew Fischer ’17) won Outstanding Attorney Awards, and one witness (Patrick McConnell ’19) won an Outstanding Witness Award. This means that the judges consistently ranked each student as being one of the best attorneys or witnesses in their trials.

  • Hamilton College competed in the 30th annual Mock Trial National Championship Tournament (NCT) in Cincinnati on April 16 - 19. The team took 32nd in the tournament, placing them in the top five percent of about 660 teams nationwide. While in the past, teams polished cases that they had been preparing for several months, this year teams were given an entirely new case, and only three weeks to prepare it.

  • Hamilton’s Mock Trial team is off to Cincinnati to compete in the American Mock Trial Association's annual national tournament April 17-19. The team includes co-captains Amber Groves ’15 and Maggie McGuire ’15, Ian Carradine ’15, Hunter Green ’16, Andrew Fischer ’17, Caroline Reppert ’17, Sam Weckenman ’17, Ryan Bloom ‘18, and Conor O’Shea ’18.

  • Hamilton’s Mock Trial team has had a successful competitive year, but it’s not over yet. The team came in 3rd place last weekend (March 6-8) at the Opening Round Championship (ORCs) at Pennsylvania State University, granting them a bid to the national competition in Cincinnati (April 17-19). Of the eight total ORCs tournaments in the country, Penn State’s is known to be one of the most competitive, hosting teams such as Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Columbia and Tufts, all of which frequently compete at the national level.

  • Hamilton’s Mock Trial team competed on Feb. 21-22 at the regional competition, held at Buffalo State University. This event determined whether the team would move forward to the opening round championship (ORCs) the weekend of March 6-8.

  • Hamilton College’s student-run Mock Trial team took home 4th place at the recent Cornell Invitational tournament. Twenty-six teams competed. To add to the excitement, two of Hamilton’s attorneys, one from defense and one from plaintiff, won Outstanding Attorney Awards for earning 18 ranks (out of a possible 20). This means that the judges ranked them as being the best attorneys in their trials at least three times.

  • Following a 5th place finish at the Colgate Classic in the beginning of November, the Hamilton College Mock Trial Team finished 7-0-1 at the University of Rochester’s Yellowjacket Invitational, taking home a first place trophy for the first time this season.

  • An alarming robbery at Racheter World Amusement Park in Midlands results in the death of park security guard Winston Thomas. In an impressive display of legal and communication acumen, the Hamilton College Mock Trial team brought the criminal case of Bowman v. State of Midlands to court on April 19 and April 20 against legal teams from Cornell and Rochester.  This tournament, hosted on the Hamilton campus, was the College’s first home invitational.

  • Hamilton’s Mock Trial Team started out its season on a positive note, winning the University of Rochester Yellow Jacket Invitational with a 7-1 record on Nov. 2-3.
