  • Societal pressures shape the way in which many young people develop into adulthood. In fact, cultural norms are so ubiquitous that there are few examples of people who truly break the mold. Kadahj Bennett ’12, an Emerson Summer Grant recipient, is working with Associate Professor of Theater Mark Cryer to create an interdisciplinary, innovative street theater performance piece, Letters to the Shadows in the Sky, on the male black identity in modern society.

  • A group of Hamilton students, alumni and Associate Professor of Theatre Mark Cryer are taking their show on the road as they prepare to perform Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, by August Wilson, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival on Aug. 11-22.   • Associate Professor of Theatre Mark Cryer is playing King Claudius in Hamlet with the Saratoga Shakespeare Festival. Performances are held Tuesday through Saturday, July 13-17 and July 20-24, at 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 18 and 25, at 3 p.m. in on the Alfred Z. Solomon Stage in Saratoga Springs' Congress Park. All performances are free and open to the public.
