Assistant Professor of Economics Emily Conover, together with colleagues from Amherst, Colgate, Wesleyan and Vassar, co-organized the second Liberal Arts Colleges Development Economic Conference (LAC-DEV). The conference was hosted by Colgate University on Sept. 26-27.

Hamilton's Honor Court hosted a two-day conference on campus on September 26-27 to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of various approaches to introducing, maintaining and enforcing honor codes. The court invited members of honor courts at several liberal arts college, including Union, Haverford, Davidson and Reed, selected for the strength of their own honor code traditions.

This is a subgroup of the CHCI (Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes), an international group of colleges and universities that have (or will have/hope to have) humanities centers.

Hamilton New York Program students recently toured the Whitney Museum, a modern art museum near Central Park. The group was led on a guided tour through a four-story exhibit of artist Jeff Koons. The exhibit was arranged chronologically, so the students saw the evolution of Koons' work.

“The Sound of Silent Film: A Two-Part Benshi Event,” the second 2014 F.I.L.M. Series program, offered a packed house a multi-faceted event featuring a unique musical collaboration between international artists from Japan, France and Canada on Sunday, Sept. 28. The audience, which included numerous local Utica community members, were treated to a world premiere of a Western-style composition with traditional Japanese instruments brought together for the purpose of accompanying Japanese silent movies.

Newly retired New York Yankee shortstop and captain Derek Jeter will visit Hamilton College for a Great Names question-and-answer discussion on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m., in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. The event will be moderated by Former Major League Baseball All-Star and Emmy Award-winning broadcaster Harold Reynolds.
