Ernest Williams, the William R. Kenan Professor of Biology emeritus and lecturer in biology, co-authored a letter that will be presented to the leaders of the United States, Canada and Mexico when they meet for the North American Leaders’ Summit in Ottawa on June 29.

Michelle Woodward ’17 is not one to let things slide. She started a methodical search for summer internships during the fall as she was studying in Siena, Italy, and her get-it-done attitude paid off with the position she wanted.

Assistant Professor of Mathematics Courtney Gibbons attended the American Mathematical Society (AMS) Mathematics Research Communities “Algebraic Statistics” program on June 12-18 in Snowbird, Utah, where she participated in a workshop on “Likelihood Geometry.”

Over the past decade, bees have been dying and colonies collapsing in unprecedented numbers, posing a threat not only to the bees themselves, but to the many crops they pollinate. Scientists are still working to understand all the factors that pose risks to bees. This summer, Andre Burnham ’18 and Fiona McLaughlin ’19 are contributing their own research to this important question by comparing the fitness of locally raised queen bees and queen bees imported from California.

Sculptures by Associate Professor of Art are included in a two-person exhibition with Chicago painter Allison Reimus at DEMO Project in Springfield, Ill. The show, titled Hard Candy, opened June 10 and runs through July 2.

A review of “Bosch: The 5th Centenary Exhibition” by Visiting Associate Professor of Religious Studies S. Brent Plate was published by Religion News Service (RNS) on June 9. The exhibition marking the 500th anniversary of the death of painter Hieronymus Bosch opened recently at the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid.

The Wellin Museum of Art recently welcomed nearly 100 kindergarteners from the Clinton Central School District for a morning of arts education. The three classes that visited on June 7 and the two classes that came on June 9 worked with the Wellin educational staff consisting of Amber Spadea, the Andrew W. Mellon Educator for School and Community Programs, and a team of Hamilton College student docents including Anjanae Williams ’18, Elliot Nathan ’17, Julia Dailey ’18, and Reed Johnson ’18.
