Hamilton College’s Class & Charter Day celebration, an annual convocation recognizing student and faculty excellence during the preceding academic year, will take place on Monday, May 11, at 4:15 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center. This year’s speaker is Alumni Association president John Hadity ’83, a film financing expert and executive vice president for EP Financial Solutions. His talk is titled “The Underrated Element of Surprise.”

The Hamilton College men’s and women’s Ultimate Frisbee teams competed in recent weeks at the annual Western New York Division III sectionals tournament. Both teams had strong showings, with the men’s squad holding a record of 5-2 for a third place finish, and the women’s team going undefeated to win their section. They'll both continue on to regionals in Saratoga Springs on April 24-25 to compete for spots in the national championship tournament.

Wednesday, April 15 marked the 150th anniversary of the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. Hamilton students, participating in the Program in Washington semester, decided to spend their morning at the historic Ford’s Theatre. The visit included time in the theatre’s museum as well as attending a one-act play.

Barbara Gold, the Edward North Professor of Classics, presented an invited talk on April 10 at Boston University during the 21st Annual Meeting of the Boston Area Roman Studies Conference.

Several Hamilton students and faculty members attended an annual undergraduate classics research conference on April 17. Each year the conference is hosted by Hamilton, Union College, Skidmore College or Colgate University. Union was this year’s host.

The Theatre Department's presentation of Our Town, directed by Professor Craig Latrell, continues this week. Performances will run Wednesday, April 22 – Saturday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the new state-of-the-art Romano Theatre within the Kennedy Center for Theatre and the Studio Arts.

Ernest Williams, the William R. Kenan Professor of Biology emeritus, presented “Monarch Butterflies: An Endangered Migration” on April 16 at the Discovery Center of the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. The talk was part of the center’s Science Lecture Series.

A routine meeting about a school visit to the Wellin Museum between representatives of the museum and a Clinton Middle School art teacher has led to a rewarding collaboration for both Hamilton College students and Clinton middle schoolers.
