Hamilton College athletes finished one-two in the javelin throw as the Continentals competed in the multi-divisional, non-team scoring University of Rochester Invitational at Roberts Wesleyan University on April 11.

Peter Kosgei '10 won two middle-distance events as Hamilton College competed in the multi-divisional, non-team scoring University of Rochester Invitational at Roberts Wesleyan University on April 11.

Hamilton College dropped a pair of one-run contests against host Wesleyan University in a New England Small College Athletic Conference West Division doubleheader played at Andrus Field on April 12.

The April Hamilton-Colgate Challenge demonstrated, once again, the magnificent generosity of Hamilton alumni when called upon to support their College. At the end of the day on April 30 fully 1,308 alumni had made a gift to Hamilton - nearly four times the total number of donors in April, 2008! The desire of Hamilton graduates to support current students on the Hill clearly transcends the economic stress we are all experiencing. To date, Colgate has been unable to provide an end of the month total. Regardless, students have been the clear winners. Thanks to all of you who help perpetuate the life changing experiences you knew at Hamilton for today's undergraduates.

When someone says "Manhattan," you might think of traders yelling out orders on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, or ice skaters at Rockefeller Center, or a power-jog through Central Park in-between conference calls. On April 1, NYC Program students explored the rich cultural traditions of another part of the island, visiting a jazz museum, a famous lounge, and the Apollo Theater in the neighborhood of Harlem.

Professor of Music Samuel Pellman presented his work "The Home Planet," comprised of digitally processed environmental sounds, on April 2, in Santa Fe at the national conference of the Society of Composers. Included with the presentation was video art by Lauren Koss '00.

Visiting Associate Professor of Religious Studies S. Brent Rodriguez Plate was recently made a continuing columnist for Religion Dispatches, a publication funded through the Ford Foundation. Plate's column is titled "Pop-Eye," which he says, "provides commentary on the latest trends and games, videos and films that matter to religion. And how and why religion matters to popular culture."

Award-winning journalist Naomi Klein will speak on Monday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m., in the Hamilton College Chapel.
