More reunion memories were made on Friday, June 1, as events continued throughout the day and into the evening. Among highlights were Bicentennial Colleges with Edward "Ned" Walker ' 62, Elaine Weiss K'73 and Robert Moses '56, a night of jazz, and fireworks over Royce Baseball Field.

In a light-hearted story on the 100th anniversary of the Federal Reserve, American Public Media’s Marketplace reporter David Gura quoted Ann Owen, the Henry Platt Bristol Professor of Economics for a segment titled "Nearing 100, Federal Reserve crowdsources its centennial." Owen joined John Silvia, chief economist at Wells Fargo, and Williams College economics professor Ken Kuttner in discussing the Fed's new archive.

Professor of Religious Studies Heidi M. Ravven was an invited participant in a panel discussion with Thomas Szasz on May 30 at the meeting of the American Psychoanalytic Association Study Group at Upstate Medical Center Department of Psychiatry in Syracuse, N.Y.

Alumni began arriving from near and far on Thursday, May 31, to begin the Bicentennial Reunion weekend festivities. Thursday’s highlights included a tour, “The Legacy of Trees on the Hamilton Campus,” guided by Arboretum Director Terry Hawkridge P’01, and “Giants in the Earth,” a talk and tour of Hamilton’s Cemetery, led by Hamilton Alumni Review Editor Emeritus Frank Lorenz.

Lauren Howe ’13 presented a paper she co-authored with Morgan Osborn ’14 and Katrina Keay ’14 at the Canadian Association for Food Studies (CAFS) 2012 Conference on May 26. They wrote the paper, “Let’s Dig In! Adirondack Food Culture Through the Ages,” for Professor Robin Kinnel’s Adirondack seminar (ES 220 Culture and Natural History of the Adirondacks).

The college’s bicentennial celebration continued on May 30, as employees were invited to enjoy three birthday cakes in honor of Hamilton’s 200th birthday. President Joan Hinde Stewart and Dean of Faculty Patrick Reynolds were on hand to celebrate with employees from all across campus. IT's Maureen Scoones led the singing of “Happy Birthday” under the tent on Dunham Green.

In the current job market, summer internships are becoming harder and harder to come by, but this did not stop Bonnie Wertheim ’14 from securing two internships this summer in the competitive field of entertainment media. Wertheim is spending the summer splitting her time between VICE Media, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and Universal Republic Records, in New York City.

As Hamilton celebrated the 200th anniversary of the signing of its charter this past week, Don Spencer ’59 was celebrating his birthday as well. While turning 200 might initially seem like a grander feat than turning 76, Don Spencer’s 76th birthday was far from unremarkable. That’s because Spencer turned 76 while riding a bicycle in the midst of a nearly 500-mile journey from Pittsburgh, Pa., to Hamilton’s Bicentennial Alumni Reunion in Clinton, N.Y.

Hamilton’s annual reunions take on special significance this year as the college celebrates its bicentennial with an All-Alumni Reunion, May 31-June 3. More than 2000 alumni and their guests are expected. A special welcome is extended to members of the class of 1962 who are celebrating their 50th reunion. A full schedule of events will keep attendees busy all weekend.
