HCAYS Accessibility Statement
Whenever possible, HCAYS will provide reasonable accommodations to students with a documented learning, physical, or mental disability. Provision of certain accommodations cannot be guaranteed for direct enroll courses at host universities. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is an American law, and HCAYS functions outside of the United States. However, HCAYS endeavors to honor the spirit of the ADA whenever possible and will work with students to determine what resources are available in Madrid to address their specific needs.
Students need to inform HCAYS of any existing or requested accommodations as soon as possible after acceptance. The accommodation request must include documentation or a detailed letter outlining the accommodations from the home institution’s Disability Services from the most recent academic term. Any false, inaccurate, or omitted information may affect a student’s ability to fully participate in the program or the possibility for HCAYS to assist with their needs abroad.
Academic accommodations include support within the classroom and for coursework and testing when classes are taken at our Center, and not in the local university. Accommodation for flexible attendance cannot be supported either at the Center, nor at the local university, nor during academic excursions.
