Insurance & Special Needs

Hamilton College Academic Year in Spain provides health insurance in Spain for all participants as part of the program fee to ensure that all students are adequately protected. All participants receive complete medical and accident insurance coverage from MAPFRE for the duration of the program.  The cost of this coverage is covered by the program tuition fee. You will receive more information and details about health insurance coverage from MAPFRE during the orientation meeting in Madrid.

We strongly advise that all necessary dental work be done prior to leaving the United States. When necessary, students should have an extra pair of glasses with them and a sufficient quantity of any special medicines or pertinent prescriptions they will need for their complete time abroad. 

PreDeparture Information

After students are accepted and during the months previous to their departure for Spain, the program issues bulletins about necessary health and insurance coverage, passports, visas, housing in Madrid, travel, etc.

Note that according to international laws each student is responsible for securing his or her own passport and visa.
