  • Peter J. Rabinowitz, the Sidney Wertimer Professor of Comparative Literature, presented a paper on June 27 at the International Conference on Narrative in Manchester, England. His presentation, partly co-authored with James Phelan, was included in “Three Approaches to Narrative Theory: A Dialogue in Two Rounds, ” a session that focused on differing views of plot and progression.

  • Associate Professor of Chemistry Ian Rosenstein attended the National Organic Symposium from June 25-28 at the University of Washington in Seattle.  This biennial conference, held by the Organic Division of the American Chemical Society, features invited talks on cutting edge research in all aspects of organic chemistry plus several hundred poster presentations.

  • Three Hamilton alumni were selected to the top leadership positions with the New York Law School Law Review for the 2013-14 academic year.  William Bartholomew '08 and Helen Quigley '10 have been named editor-in-chief and managing editor, respectively, and William Lemon '08 was selected to serve as an executive editor.  Bartholomew, Lemon, and Quigley will receive their juris doctorates in 2014.  Both Bartholomew and Quigley graduated from Hamilton with degrees in world politics, while Lemon majored in philosophy and religious studies.

The DownBeat Keys, a Brooklyn-based hip-hop band featuring five Hamilton College alumni, opened for Bon Jovi.

  • Assistant Professor of Chemistry Adam W. Van Wynsberghe presented a seminar titled “Hitting the Target: Simulations of the ligand binding pathways of influenza neuraminidase” on Oct. 16 at Colgate University. The seminar was co-sponsored by Colgate’s chemistry and biology departments and primarily described the work of three undergraduate researchers in the Van Wynsberghe lab: Erica Losito ’12 and Carmen Montagnon ’13, as well as Jeffrey Sung of the University of California-San Diego.

  • The DownBeat Keys, a Brooklyn-based hip-hop band featuring five Hamilton College alumni, will open for Jon Bon Jovi and The Kings of Suburbia on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Best Buy Theater in New York.
