An article titled “A Good Forgetting” by Professor of Philosophy Marianne Janack was published online on June 4 in Aeon Magazine. In the article, Janack discussed the pros and cons of both remembering and forgetting, and the influence of emotion and other factors on how the brain processes memories.

The familiar combined with the new to create an unforgettable Reunions ’15. More than 1,100 alumni and their guests enjoyed a memorable weekend of weather that was ranked a perfect 10, June 4-7. Members of the Class of 1965 were feted and the 50th anniversary of the signing of Kirkland College’s charter was celebrated.

Associate Professor of Psychology Tara McKee presented a poster on May 30 at the 5th World Congress on ADHD in Glasgow, Scotland. The poster, titled “Social-Emotional Correlates of ADHD Symptomatology in College Students,” presented the results of research conducted last summer with the help of Joshua DeVinney ’15 and Courtney Hobgood ’15

Hamilton College welcomed 3rd grade students from Oneida’s Seneca Street Elementary School to the Taylor Science Center on June 3 for a number of educational presentations on psychology, biology, physics and chemistry.

The Orchard at Hamilton, an artist residency and development program constituting a nine-day stay on campus by a number of alumni and undergraduates, is beginning to flourish this week.

Hamilton has named its new intercollegiate athletics team center, a 5,100-square-foot addition to Sage Rink, for alumnus and charter trustee Robert V. Delaney ’79 and his wife Pamela Craig. The couple provided the lead funding for the $3.2 million facility that includes four team rooms for fall, winter and spring sports teams; a satellite sports medicine room; laundry room; and an equipment enclosure. The Delaney Team Center was dedicated during Reunion Weekend on Saturday, June 6.

Hamilton’s Arthur Levitt Public Affairs Center is committed to addressing “persistent social problems in innovative, effective and ethical ways.” Tsion Tesfaye ’16 has taken that mission to heart and significantly engaged with the Center. Last summer she was chosen to participate in the Levitt Social Innovation Fellows program, through which she received funding for her pilot project, Youth for Ethiopia. That project led to her selection to participate in the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) in March.  Now she’s seeking help to keep the program going.

Hamilton will welcome back more than 1,100 alumni and their guests when it hosts the college’s annual Reunion Weekend, this year on Thursday-Sunday, June 4-7.  A special welcome goes to members of the class of 1965 who will be celebrating their 50th reunion, and the 50th anniversary of the signing of Kirkland College’s charter will be commemorated.

Lisa Yang ’17 and Aida Shadrav ’17 have been awarded Gilman International Scholarship Program awards for undergraduate study abroad. Yang plans to study in China through the Associated Colleges in China (ACC) program this summer and Shadrav will study in Spain this fall through the Hamilton College Academic Year in Spain.

“Class of 2015,” a longitudinal portrait project comprising photographs and video interviews that examine the development of personal identity among a group of students from Hamilton's class of 2015, will open at the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art on June 4. Assistant Professor of Art Robert Knight began this series in 2011, when he started teaching at Hamilton. A reception will be held on Thursday, June 4, from 4 to 6 p.m.
