Students in Hamilton’s Program in New York City recently attended a breakfast hosted by alumni at Citigroup, giving them a chance to informally connect with alumni in the industry.  Citi’s banking offices are located in Tribeca, not too far from Hamilton’s apartments in Battery Park City. The event was hosted by  alumni Jeffrey Schackner ‘89 and Peter Tague ‘88.

Paula Moya, co-editor of Doing Race: 21 Essays for the 21st Century (2010), will give a lecture titled “Doing Race: Eight Conversations about Race” on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 4 p.m., in the Bradford Auditorium, KJ. The lecture is co-sponsored by the Diversity and Social Justice Project and the Days-Massolo Center and is free and open to the public.

A screening and discussion of the documentary, Mine Your Own Business, will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Red Pit, KJ.  Mine Your Own Business examines the controversial Rosia Montana mining project in Romania in 2007. The event is free and open to the public.

Local families experienced the magic of Harry Potter at the 10th annual Hogwarts at Hamilton on Nov. 4 and 5 at Benedict Hall. Hamilton students dressed in costume and took on the personas of their favorite Harry Potter characters while leading visitors on tours.

Every year during the second full week of November, the National Collegiate Emergency Services Foundation recognizes on-campus EMTs for National Collegiate EMS Week. From Nov. 7 through Nov. 13, the College honors Hamilton College Emergency Medical Services (HCEMS) for their unparalleled dedication to the campus community.

Sterling Professor of Law at Yale Law School Anthony Kronman will present the Doris M. and Ralph E. Hansmann lecture on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 4:10  p.m. in the Taylor Science Center’s Kennedy Auditorium. His lecture, part of the 2011 Humanities Forum, is titled “Education in the Age of Disenchantment” and is free and open to the public.

The Womyn’s Center partnered with the Institute for Global Africana Studies to bring (Eye)dentity Cr(eye)sis: a photography and creative writing workshop to campus on Oct. 24.  Student participants captured images using photography that they felt best represented how they identify.

While part of the Kenyon Review writing workshop in literary non-fiction this summer, Sidney Wertimer Professor of Philosophy Marianne Janack read an essay titled "Ducati Vasectomy: A Lesson in Logic." That essay has just been published in the most recent issue of Zone 3. The essay is a meditation on danger, promises, marriage and possibility.

Christina Romer, former chair of the Council of Economic Advisers in the Obama administration (2009-2010) will give a lecture titled “What Do We Know about the Effects of Fiscal Policy? Separating Evidence from Ideology,” on Monday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m., in the Chapel. The lecture is sponsored by the Arthur Levitt Public Affairs Center and is free and open to the public.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Africana Studies Crystal Leigh Endsley was invited to perform as a featured artist at the gallery space AAI in Philadelphia on Oct. 21.
