Students participating in the Fall 2016 New York City (NYC) Program attended a speech delivered by Stanley Fischer, vice chair of the Federal Reserve, at the Economic Club of New York (ECNY) meeting in October.

The Theory and Interpretation of Narrative series, co-edited by Professor of Comparative Literature Peter J. Rabinowitz and published by Ohio State University Press, recently released its 61st volume.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry Andrew Jones was a co-author of “Engineering the biological conversion of methanol to specialty chemicals in Escherichia coli,” published recently in the journal Metabolic Engineering.

The Hamilton Mathletics Team, Coached by Associate Professor of Mathematics Andrew Dykstra, took part in the annual William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition on Dec. 3.

Carl Rubino, the Winslow Professor of Classics Emeritus, presented “The Pale Student of Unhallowed Arts: Aristotle, Lucretius, and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein” at Virginia Wesleyan College on Nov. 18.

The Sidekicks mentoring program paired over a dozen Hamilton students with children from the Clinton Elementary School on Dec. 4 to participate in a cookie decorating party with holiday-themed crafts, snacks and games.

Community members on the Hill gathered to celebrate Samuel Kirkland’s 275th birthday on Dec. 1. Kirkland, born in 1741, founded the Hamilton-Oneida academy that later became the Hamilton College we know today.
